Spaceheadz Book #1 hits stores (and the main branch of the NYPL) tomorrow.
Three aliens have invaded Brooklyn and disguised themselves as two 5th graders . . . and one 5th grade class hamster.
Only you can save the world.
Be SPHDZ.
Come one, come all to Symphony Space (on the Upper West Side of NYC) Saturday, January 24. I'm going to be chatting with Lisa Von Drasek (one of the best librarians in the world) about robots, spacehead aliens, little men made of cheese, and more more more.
Robot activities and questions answered at no extra charge.
This morning Ambassador Scieszka stopped by FAO Schwartz to tell the CBS Early Show about some of his favorite books this year.
Check out the televised goofiness here.
Jon Scieszka, Dave Shannon, Mac Barnett, and Adam Rex are joining forces to travel the country and mess around with their new books. There may be explosions. Quite possibly food.
Check out their schedule and follow them at their Guys With Books blog.
. . . is up at running at www.guysread.com. Go check it out. Make suggestions. Rate books. Start a GUYS READ Field Office.
Tell your friends.
Big month here.
TRUCKERY RHYMES is out now . . . and already #5 on the NY Times Best Seller list. Nursery Rhymes done by the Trucktown trucks. Of course.
And ROBOT ZOT is about to land. A picture book illustrated by the amazing David Shannon (NO, DAVID!) tells the story of a fierce warrior robot who plans to conquer all. Zot just never realizes that he is only 3 inches tall. In stores September 22.
Starts this Saturday in Bryant Park. 12-3. Come on out and get Children's Bookish with Ambassador Scieszka, nine authors and illustrators, Skippyjon Jones, and quite possibly some Stormtrooper Ambassadorial guards (formerly known as "Vader's Fist").
And do not miss the Children's Choice Book Awards Gala on Tuesday. Mo Willems, Jeff Kinney, Stephanie Meyer and more are in the running for Best Author and Best Illustrator. Just a few tickets left.

I'm going to be the game show host for Scholastic's Summer Challenge LIVE! podcast tomorrow at 1 pm.
It's 4 teams of NYC 5th graders, answering some tough questions. Should be some good goofy fun. Especially since I get to be the show's Alex Trebek.
Check it out at www.scholastic.com/summer
Ambassador Scieszka stopped by the MARTHA STEWART SHOW this month to give Martha and her viewers tips for getting kids reading. Martha was very gracious and entertaining.
The NY Times Book Review ran a nice review of SMASH! CRASH! last Sunday.
But I love the piece Lisa Von Drasek (Children's Librarian at Bank Street) for B&N Online. She really got how TRUCKTOWN is all about letting kids play.
Lots more books coming out in June. And I'm working on the Trucktown Online World with a great group called Chorion. It should launch next fall. This will be a place where kids can hang out with their favorite truck . . . and actually BE a truck.
